Workshop Information
Using a short circular needle, we'll show you how to use two contrasting colours of yarn to create a beautiful square combining knits and purls with weaving. We'll use the Checkmate pattern on page 108. Block: Checkmate (p.108).
Materials Required
A small quantity (25g or less each) of two colours of yarn and a short circular (16"/40cm) circular or longer (8") double pointed knitting needles (only 2 are needed) appropriate for the gauge of the yarn. (It's helpful if your yarn is rolled up into a centre-pull ball as you'll need to work double stranded with one colour). Please arrive a little early if you need assistance winding your yarn - we're happy to help you out.). A copy of Nicky Epstein's Knitting Block by Block book is a required text for this workshop.
Skill Level 1: Beginner
You know how to cast on and cast off and are comfortable making both knit and purl stitches. You've made a scarf and now you're ready for something new.
