Knit your colour change or pictorial detail right in using the intarsia method. This colour knitting technique allows you to change colours frequently without carrying yarn across the back. Choose one of these blocks for your workshop project: Diagonal Stripes (p.80), Negative/Positive (p.86), or Fish Bowl (p. 87). It's helpful to make a photocopy of the chart for your block prior to class.
Small quantities of differently coloured yarn (check pattern instructions to find out how many colours you will need and knitting needles appropriate for the gauge of the yarn. A copy of Nicky Epstein's Knitting Block by Block book is a required text for this workshop.
You can cast on and cast off, knit and purl and you have followed a pattern to finish a project. You can recognize mistakes and have attempted to fix them. You own a knitting reference book and you've used it to figure out a stitch or abbreviation. You've completed several projects and now you're ready to change colours, make holes on purpose and create textured patterns.
