In Fair Isle Part 2, we'll teach you how to carry yarn across longer sections in the back of your work to keep the strands neat and avoid "puckering". Block: Fair Isle and Flower (p.90). You may also choose to photocopy your chart so that you can check off rows as you complete them. Prerequisite: we strongly recommend that you take Fair Isle 1 prior to this workshop.
A small quantity of yarn (one 50g ball or less) and knitting needles appropriate for the gauge of the yarn plus one pair of knitting needles one size bigger or smaller. A copy of Nicky Epstein's Knitting Block by Block book is a required text for this workshop.
Please come to class with the first half of the "Fair Isle and Flower" block (rows 1 - 27) completed. We'll be working on the second half of this square in class.
You've successfully completed more complex projects (e.g. a sweater or socks) that required shaping or reading charts (e.g. lace knitting). You're comfortable working on a variety of needles sizes (2.0mm-15.0mm) and you've knit in the round on both circulars and double pointed needles. You can follow a pattern and learn from a reference book but you prefer to ask questions and you're not concerned by the concepts of "pre-work" and "homework".
*When you purchase Nicky's "Knitting Block by Block" from River City Yarns, we'll give you a complimentary registration ($0.00) in one of our Blockbuster workshops (a $25.00 value).
