What It's All About

Learn to knit two socks simultaneously in the round on two circular needles or one long circular (magic loop style) and never suffer from “second sockitis” again.  We’ll be working these socks from the toe up, using Holli Yeoh’s “Tip Toe Up Sock” pattern so you can make the socks as long as you have yarn to knit them! You’ll learn the Turkish Cast On, grafting seamlessly without a sewing needle and a stretchy sewn bind off that also doesn’t involve sewing! You’ll also work on an “afterthought heel” and practice left- and right-slanting decreases, all while working on two socks simultaneously. During the workshop, we’ll practice all the techniques on a small pair of sampler socks; your homework will involve practicing your new skills on a pair of “real” socks.

Skill Level

you must be very comfortable knitting in the round on one/two circulars. You will be more successful if you have already knit socks or mittens in the round on one/two circulars. If not, we recommend that you take the Marvellous Mittens - Magic Loop/2 Circs workshop first.

Please Bring:

Your sampler sock requires two colours of a small amount (partial balls will work) of a double knit or worsted weight yarn in light to medium colours and one long circular (32” – 40”) or two circulars (16” - 32”) in an appropriate size for the yarn (4.0 – 4.5mm). You'll be making a sample sock first, so leftover yarn is okay. Your instructor will review the material requirements for “self socks” in the first class. An e-version of Holli Yeoh’s “Tip Toe Up” sock pattern is included in your registration fee.

Includes:

  • 6 hours of instruction (3 weekly sessions)
  • an e-version of Holli Yeoh's Tip Toe Up Sock Pattern
  • a cure for "second sock-itis"
