While World Wide Knit in Public Day is a global event, you can get involved locally. Join the "Virginia's Knitters" who will be gathering at the University of Alberta (Edmonton) in the Quad from 10:00AM to Noon on June 14, 2008.
How to get there: The Quad is the main green area in the middle of campus just north of 114 Street and 89 Avenue. From the LRT/bus walk west to the Administration Building then go north a few steps and there it is. There is also parking at various parkades around campus.
For a link to the University's interactive map, click here. The Quad is at 4 D/E on the map. There are bathrooms and concessions in the Student Union Building (4D on the map) most of which should be open in a Saturday during Spring Session.
Please bring your own lawn chair, though there are tables around the Quad. In case of rain we will be in the Student Union Building D4 on the map in the concession area. This KIP is not knitting exclusive. |

Need to De-Stash? |
| Elsie Davis is a local knitter who works all year long to put together donations for the Mustard Seed’s charitable programs. Last year, she knit 250 headbands and 100 scarves! If you need to trim your yarn stash and would like to see it go to a worthwhile effort, give Elsie a call at (780) 473-2245. Small soaps, shampoos, tea towels and wearables (e.g. socks) are also welcome additions. |
If you have yarn to donate to a good cause, call Nellie Maas at (780) 455-0195. Nellie is a member of the Wool Crafters group at a local Seniors Drop In Centre. The Wool Crafters knit up preemie hats, lap blankets, afghans and other comforts and donate their works to those in need. |
