Knitty in the City is River City Yarn’s annual fundraising event benefiting the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT. The 3rd Annual Knitty in the City event will took place on Sunday, Oct 14 and featured high tea, a fashion show, silent auction, guest speakers, and a fibre competition.

Volunteers Anne C. and Judith K. along with models from Select Model Management Ltd showed us the latest in fashion and knitwear from designer Jo Sharp, Misti Alpaca, Needful Yarns, KAJ Clothing, my filosophy, Nokomis, Maggie Walt Design and Petite Collection. Make up was provided by the talented estheticians at the Alberta Academy of Esthetics.

The Silent Auction and raffle prizes raised over $4,000 in support of the programs and services at the Alzheimers Society of AB and the NWT. Up for raffle were two prizes: a pottery cereal set with four bowls and milk pitcher donated by Marcene M. and a lovely beaded ribbon necklace donated by Barb B. Silent auction items included handknit and crocheted items donated by several talented customers, gift certificates, paintings, fashions, jewellery, flower arrangements, and much, much more.

Our firstever Fibre Art Competition was also launched in conjunction with Knitty in the City. The prizes for "Best in Show" and First Place in the category of "Technique" were awarded to Lenore N. for her entry of a pair of handknit Sanquar gloves done in the traditional fair isle (two-colour stranded knitting) technique.
