MARVELOUS MITTENS

Marvelous Mittens

Workshop Information

A great class for novice knitters... practice knitting in the round on either double pointed needles (dpns) or two circulars and make a pair of mittens to keep your hands cozy during the long winter months. You will learn about gauge, how to create a thumb gusset, put stitches "on hold", how to increase for the thumb gusset, and how to finish off your work (weave in the ends). The pattern we use is written for one size (ladies medium) but can be modified to make smaller or larger sizes by changing needle sizes. Mittens are fun to make, they're a portable project to take along and they require a relatively small amount of yarn. They're mmmmarvelous!

Materials Required

Approximately 200m of a worsted or aran weight yarn (good to start out on), 3.5mm and 3.75mm double pointed needles, 2 stitch markers, a stitch holder, a wool needle and a copy of the Warmest Mittens pattern by Kris Percival available on Ravelry.

Skill Level:

Students should know how to knit in the round on double pointed needles. We recommend taking the Baby Hat (Knit in the Round) workshop prior to this workshop if you haven't used dpns before.
